COMMUNITY

HOLLYWOOD/PINES BOULEVARD IS THE
FIRST COMBINED LIVABILITY PLANNING
CONGESTION MANAGEMENT CORRIDOR STUDY

FOR THE BROWARD MPO, FLORIDA

  • Identified concrete project goals that build upon the work of the Broward MPO's 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan.
  • Created an in-depth Public Involvement Plan tailored to reach very different communities along the corridor.
  • Developed long-term land use and multimodal visions for four mobility hubs along the corridor.
  • Created an urban design toolkit to encourage transit-supportive uses
This is the most advanced analysis of project public involvement that I’ve ever seen.… I’m wowed by the level of detail. - Source Civil Rights Program Coordinator of FHWA, Florida Division

ACTIONABLE INSIGHT

This 20-mile segment of Hollywood/Pines Boulevard includes the communities of Hollywood and Pembroke Pines, several major activity centers, and 11 mobility hubs.

Four Mobility Hubs were selected to undergo a scenario planning exercise with community members to identify design concepts and land use recommendations.

As a result of the scenario planning exercise, the following recommendations were made
for the Flamingo Road Mobility Hub.

Existing Land Use

Mobility Hub Transformations, Land Use and Code

CORRIDOR TRANSFORMATION
AND PROJECT FUNDING

Project outcomes focus on improving safety, enhancing mobility, and creating more efficient land use to promote, transit, biking, and walking and enhance quality of life.

Tindale Oliver identified approximately $80 million in projects and improvements. The Broward MPO has programmed $20 million to fund high-priority congestion management projects, and Florida Department of Transportation District 4 is assessing additional project funding.
